Model Packs increase the number of Amp or FX Models of a GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt, PODxt Live or PODxt Pro, for a wider variety of tone possibilities. When a particular tone in the library relies on a Model available in one of these packs, you'll see symbol(s) to indicate which Packs: MS (Metal Shop), CC (Classics Collection), FX (FX Junkie), and PP (Power Pack).

The models within the FX Junkie Model Pack are already included in PODxt Live, and offered for purchase to add-on to GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt and PODxt Pro.

Variax is the uniquely flexibile guitar from Line 6. Our Vetta II amplifier includes a digital connection for the Variax that lets you store settings for both your amp and your guitar in the Vetta II so that when you call up a Vetta Channel Memory your amp and guitar can change sounds together. Vetta II Tones marked with this guitar symbol include this Variax data.

For each tone in the library, you'll see an icon for either a single coil or humbucker pickup. This tells you whether the tone is best for use with a single coil pickup or a humbucker, so you can select the appropriate pickup on your guitar when using this tone.

Attention POD 2.0, Flextone and HD147 owners... Your hardware doesn't do Stomp effects, so you'll hear something different than what was intended. Try increasing the Drive or choose a higher gain Amp Model to get the right sound. The other aspects of the sound should translate as expected, so you'll at least get a great starting place for tweaking.

This preset is my interpretation of the main guitar tones from Iron Maidens Gallien Krueger-era (86-89). Since the GK-amp isn't in the Helix, I wasn't able to do the exact same routing that Iron Maiden used, but I think the "poly detune" really brings the proper vibe. I used the Cartographer amp in the Helix for all the tones together with a stock cab. I finally spent some time trying to match the EQ in my DAW and then transfered my settings to a block at the end of the signal chain.

Here's a demo/explanation of the preset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcwKXeqY-BI

The snapshots:

- Rhythm, lead and solo have a few tweaks in the drive pedal and amp settings between them, but they mainly differ in the amount of detune, delay and reverb.

- Clean and TrippyCln are clean tones that are achieved by amp tweaks. I had to add some gain to them after the amp to compensate for the lower volume. Raising the master of the amp affected the tone in a way I didn't like. Slight compression is added to the clean tones and the TrippyCln-snapshot has an autoswell together with more intense detune.

- "-12 Solo", "SmwhrIntro" and "Deja Vu" are based on the lead or solo snapshot, but with pitch effects added to them. -12 Solo adds a lower octave that I tweaked to suit the intro of The evil that men do and the chorus of Moonchild. I found the blend with the lower octave more convincing than adding the high octave. SmwhrIntro represents the intro of Caught Somewhere in time. This snapshot utilizes EXP1 to control how much of the higher harmony is added to the mix. It enables the user to manually add the higher harmony like in the song. Finally, Deja Vu is a modified lead-snapshot that adds a +3 harmony in F minor.

Other: All snapshots except SmwhrIntro control the volume with EXP2 and clicking the pedal will engage the wah, which is controlled by EXP1. The wah is based on John Petrucci and doesn't necessarily reflect Iron Maiden. I like the way it sounds though. You might want to add a few dB of gain depending on the loudness of your pickups.

I hope you enjoy the preset and please let me know if you come up with some nice tweaks.
